A photo of our February meeting appeared in the Observer, 24 February, along with an article about CRAGs, click here to read it (no photo online).

We had a public meeting on Saturday 15 March on Carbon Offsetting. Two speakers explained the benefits and the problems with offsetting, a few short films were shown, and a lively debate followed.

And on Tuesday 18th we were on BBC Radio York breakfast show, again talking about Carbon Offsetting

Our mission: to reduce our carbon footprints by providing support, encouragement and
inspiration for individual and collective action.

Our Aims:

To make us all aware of our personal carbon footprint.
To help each other pursue cuts in our personal CO2 emissions.
To argue for the adoption of similar schemes at the national and international level.
To build solidarity between growing groups of carbon conscious people.

Our Target
This year's target is to not exceed 4.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions per person. This target is a 10% reduction from 5 tonnes of CO2 which the average person in the UK emits annually through transport and home energy use. We aim to reduce our emissions by 10% annually.

News
National Climate March, 8th Dec
Several York Craggers took part in a successful (though wet) national climate march in London. We met many members from CRAGs across the country. It was great to see so many of you there.

Stop Climate Chaos Interactive Map Finished!
On behalf of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, The Climate Outreach Information Network (COIN) has collated an interactive map of all community-level groups working on climate change in the UK. The map enables interested individuals to browse all of the groups in their area, contact them and get involved - as well as enabling the groups themselves to network together, co-ordinate their activities and look for groups working on similar topics across the UK. See York CRAG on the map here.

Online Carbon Calculator
A new online version of our carbon calculator has been
added to the website. Many thanks to John Elwen who created the calculator.
